Abstract: Rubber concrete has good application prospect due to its superior material properties. But the reduction of strength is a key problem. With the concrete strength of C25 as a benchmark, the mechanical property of rubber concrete, in which rubber particles replace fine aggregates in equal volume, was investigated. The effect of rubber particle’s size and dosage on concrete’s mechanical properties was researched. Test results reveal that the compressive strength, axial compressive strength, splitting strength and rupture strength of rubber concrete are all lower than those of the benchmark concrete, and they become lower with the increase of rubber content. But the tensile compressive strength ratio is higher than that of the benchmark concrete, and exhibits a trend of increasing with the increase of rubber content. The results also show that the toughness of concrete is increased because of the addition of rubber. This research provides technical support for the practical application of rubber conerete.
