Abstract: The topography and flow condition and other factors limit the width of curved waterway, and pose hidden dangers to the safe navigation of ships. To solve these problems, we summarized the navigation condition of various levels of curved waterway of main navigable rivers in China, and analyzed the factors influencing the navigation. By employing generalized model test and remote control ship model test, and in association with the existing research results and relevant standards and specifications, we researched the navigation width of curved waterway with different bending radius, and put forward the method of determining the navigation width suitable for different inland waterway levels. Furthermore, we discussed the flow condition of curved waterway , and present the method of determining the technical requirements for the navigation flow condition. This research offers technical support and scientific basis for the navigation project construction in inland river, the channel regulation, and the determination of maintenance standards.
