Abstract: Software MSEW3.0 for the design of reinforced retaining wall was employed to check the stability compu-tations for reinforced tiered retaining wall in different cases: different step widths, various upper and lower wall heights, and single-step retaining wall with a corresponding comprehensive slope ratio. The calculated length and strength of reinforcement material as well as the quantity of reinforcement material in those different cases were compared and analyzed. Results show that the geogrid quantity decreases along with the increase of upper wall height. With the increase of step width in a certain range, the geogrid quantity per linear meter of the retaining wall required for computation gradually decreases; while with the continuous increase of step width, the geogrid quantity gradually increases. Moreover, the geogrid quantity per linear meter of single-step reinforced retaining wall with a corresponding comprehensive slope ratio is less than that of reinforced tiered retaining wall, and with the increase of step width, the geogrid quantity for the former is remarkably reduced.
