Abstract: Aiming at the groundwater pollution and spatial distribution in Xin’an karst spring,Shanxi’s second largest karst spring,we collected water samples from 24 sampling sites to assess the water quality. With the Geostatistical Analysis function of ArcGIS,the result of the water quality data was analyzed by the method of inverse distance weighted interpolation. Finally, diagrams of single index and comprehensive indexes of water quality assessment were obtained. The water quality in the spring area was comprehensively assessed in terms of time, water quality experienced a variation from fine to poor then to fine; and in terms of space, the contaminated area generally tended to spread to the east. This research provides theoretical basis for the future regulation and management of the spring area.
