Abstract: Stress and deformation properties and hydraulic fracturing performance have been key issues in the design and construction of high earth-rock dam. In order to research the stress and deformation properties of high earth-rock dam treated with composite geo-membrane,non-linear FEM and Duncan-Chang E-B Model were employed to analyze the stress and deformation of a composite geo-membrane rock-fill dam of 127.5m height. The stress-strain and deformation behaviors of dam shell rockfill and the seepage of dam body in project-completion period and stable seepage period were calculated and analyzed. Hence the stress and deformation behaviors of composite geomembrane high earth-rock dam with core-wall and inclined wall were obtained. Hydraulic fracturing was also estimated. The calculation results show that the stress and deformation behaviors of dam body and composite geo-membrane are in normal state. Composite geo-membrane is effective in reducing phreatic line and pore water pressure, improving stress-strain properties, and preventing hydraulic fracturing.
