Abstract: The influence of meso-mechanical parameters at bedding plane on the strength characteristics of layered rock mass was studied by using particle flow method. Mechanical parameters of the bedding plane were divided into three aspects at meso-scale:bond strength, friction action and interlocking. The impact of bedding mechanical parameters on the overall strength of the rock mass was preliminarily analyzed, in association with uniaxial compression tests under different bedding inclinations by numerical simulation. The results showed that: (1)when the difference between bedding bond strength and bedrock strength is big enough, the impact can be negligible, but smaller the difference is , bigger the impact is; (2) the friction of the bedding structure has little effect on the overall strength of rock mass; (3) bedding thickness reflects the interlocking, and it was an important influencing factor for global macroscopic strength of rock specimen;(4)under particle distribution in the experiment, it is rational when bedding thickness is about three times as much as the smallest particle radius.
