Public Participation in Comprehensive Control ofFarmland Soil Erosion

Abstract: The extent of public participation in program implementation has a profound influence on the scientific nature and operability of the program. Improving public understanding and awareness of program and reflecting public demand are beneficial to the program development. In this paper, the comprehensive control project for farmland soil erosion in a small watershed of Funing County was taken as a research case. The approaches and significance of public participation in the project are analyzed; the application of public participation results to the project implementation are described; and the experiences and suggestions of public participation in the project are summarized. The present research offers reference for the design of future projects of farmland soil erosion control.
