Abstract: Vegetation cover is an important indicator of vegetation distribution on land surface and ecological changes in the environment. In this article, the temporal and spatial changes of vegetation cover in Aksu River Basin from 2005 to 2015 are obtained based on the NDVI dimidiate pixel model, and then the main causes of NDVI changes are analyzed based on Landsat TM and GF-1 WFV remote sensing images. Results indicate that vegetation cover in Aksu River Basin has showed a healthy tendency over the past decade. Vegetation cover is the richest in August, and the spatial distribution of vegetation cover is uneven with significant differences. Precipitation, meteorological disasters, land use and ecological construction project are main factors affecting the vegetation cover in Aksu River Basin. The results provide important reference for future eco-space construction in Aksu River Basin.
