Abstract: Due to the differences in language and mindset between Chinese and English, Chinglish is often seen in the English abstract of Chinese scientific journals. With the English abstract in Chinese water conservancy journals as an example, we analyzed the features of Chinglish in terms of wording and sentence structure, and summarized the problems into improper collocation, lexical redundancy, lack of sentence connection, improper sentence order and misuse of passive voice. Furthermore we offer some improvement suggestions for writers and editors.
