Abstract: The monitoring system for earth-rock dam is based on GPS and network transmission technology. The system is employed to carry out real-time monitoring for the deformation of earth-rock dam’s deformable body in time-space domain. The monitored data can be real-time stored, calculated and made into diagrams. The warning value can be set by the prewarning module, and as soon as the monitored displacement exceeds the warning value, alarm will be sent to managers by sound or text message. It is easy for managers to make in-time response to dangerous conditions so as to protect the human life and property.

Key words: automatic monitoring warning system, earth-rock dam, global positioning system, alarm
