Effect of Basalt Fiber on Performance of Hydraulic Abrasion Resistance Concrete

Abstract: Basalt fiber is a new type green fiber with some predominant advantages, its study to apply in hydraulic concrete with abrasion resistance is few. Different dosages of basalt fiber and the impact of basalt fiber blended with silica fume on the abrasion resistance of concretes are investigated, the concrete and polyacrylonitrile fiber are contrasted simultaneously. The results show as follows: The compressive strength of the concrete with different basalt fibers is decreased by a little, its splitting tensile strength, axis tensile strength, elastic modulus, abrasion resistant strength and impermeability are enhanced obviously; its dry shrinkage is larger. With the same dosage, properties of the concrete with basalt fiber was superior to that with polyacrylonitrile fiber. Basalt fiber blended with silica fume can improve almost every properties of the concrete significantly, its dry shrinkage is less than that of ordinary silica fume concrete. This kind of concrete can be used in hydraulic concrete for abrasion resistance.
