Numerical analysis of excavation for underground powerhouse in Shuibuya Project

Abstract: The stress distribution and deformation of the surrounding rock mass in the underground powerhouse of the Shuibuya Project are analyzed by using nonlinear 2D FEM. Furthermore, the influences of support measures including the replacement of soft rock mass and shotcrete-bolt support on the stress and deformation of the surrounding rock mass are studied. Finally, the integrate stability of the underground powerhouse is evaluated.
