Abstract: The general expressions of displacement for uniform and three-layers horizontally stratified foundations are found. On the basis of above mentioned formulas, the calculation on elastic moduli of stratified foundation is made with direct method and a corresponding calculation software programmed. By use of an improved variable metric method the calculation of elastic moduli is optimized.
