Abstract

Several key points on design criterion of energy dissipation and scour prevention are systematically represented in accordance with general approaches for solving energy dissipation problems downstream release structures. The design criteria using flow-pattern as control standard and protection conditions for various energy dissipation structures are rational and feasible. And aiming at the special flow-pattern structures in water cushion pool downstream high dam, the design criteria on energy dissipation and scour prevention are preliminary established according to flow pattern control and the forces acting upon bottom plate. The possibility to abolish maximum allowance strike pressure-difference in design criterion is proposed.
