Abstract: Achievements and progresses of 14 projects supported by the open research fund 2007 of the Key Laboratory of River Regulation and Flood Control of the Ministry of Water Resources (MWR) are overviewed respectively and evaluated comprehensively. Four research orientations and 20 key research domains are planned for the development of the Key Laboratory. Main achievements of the 14 projects include 14 research reports, 25 published papers, 2 research projects ratified and funded by the Natural Science Foundation of China, 1 dissertation for PhD candidate, 1 published book and 1 patent for utility models. Among the 14 projects, 6 are evaluated as first grade and 8 second grade. The research orientations planned for the Key Laboratory are river regulation, flood control and relief, key issues for large-scale water resources and hydropower projects, and protection and utilization of basin water and soil resources.
