Abstract: In order to study the stability of typical Maoping landslide on Qingjiang River, on the basis of the measured curves of Xitan landslide before failure, the landslide deformation is analyzed. The analysis results show that the volume of the typical landslide on Maoping is about 2 350×104m3, which was formed by very complicated geological structure. The reservoir water has direct impact on the landslide stability. Meanwhile, a huge loading effect caused by the fall of the Baiyan cliff rock mass formed by the coal mining made the slide of the landslide more dangerous. The comparisons of several stages deformation characteristics of Xintan landslide before failure are carried out. The research results provide useful reference to predict Maoping landslide stability.
