Abstract: Based on the requirements of the hydroelastic similitude criteria to materials,ahydroelastic model material was developed by using a composite material filled with a weightincreasing agent and through changing the formula of raw materials and improving productionworkmanship to make both the density and elastic modula of composed materials meeting the requirements of various scale models respectively, e.g.,with a geometric scale 1∶20,its dynamic elastic modula is 117 720.4MPa,the density 7.37g/cm3;with a geometric scale 1∶13.37,its dynamic elastic modula is 16 822.0 MPa, the density 7.39 g/cm3.The flow induced gate vibration tests on Three Gorges Project's deep outlet tainter gates made by the developed materials were performed in no side seal case. By measuring vibration accelerations and the dynamic stresses in supportmember of the gate,and the flow fluctuatingpressures on the gate frontface, the vibration charact eristics of the gate were analysed.
