Abstract:  Experiments were carried out to study the changes of jute geotextiles' relative weight and the content of cellulose, lignin and pecti n after the jute geotextiles were used for a long time. The results showed that a ll of the jute geotextiles had biodegraded in varying degrees. In the experiment area covered by geotextiles without any plant, the content of the cellulose ,lign in and pectin reduced 8.8%,3.48%,2.21%,respectively.In the experiment area covered by jute geotextiles with planted chinese alpine rush, the jute geotextil es' cellulose ,lignin and pectin reduced 4.22%,1.52%,0.39%,respectively.The anal ysis results in the six experiment areas showed that the content of the N,P and K in the soil covered with jute geotextiles was obviously richer than that uncov erd,and the soil fertility improved. 
