ASR Risk and Inhibition Effect of Mortar Bar Containing Glass Powder

Abstract: Waste glass powder, as a kind of admixture in concrete, can not only restrain alkalisilica reaction (ASR), but also stimulate pozzolanic activity. In association with accelerated mortarbar test (AMBT), the glass powder, rather than the standard sand, is used as aggregate to study the ASR expansion rate of mortar bar under aggregate replacement proportions. We made specimens containing the glass aggregate and standard sand in equal ratios, exploring the inhibitory effect of fineness, content, curing temperature and age on ASR reaction of mortar bar. The results show that , when the blending ratio of glass powder is 50%, the maximum ASR expansion occurs with 14d curing; then, the ASR expansion rate of mortar bars decreases when grinding duration of glass powder increases; meanwhile, glass powder with grinding duration of 1 hour is the best for restraining ASR expansion; finally, curing temperature plays a dominant role in the expansion rate of the mortar bar during early
