Abstract: To research the safety performance of helicopter’s temporary landing platform on soft foundation, a 3-D finite element model of soft soil foundation and temporary helicopter landing platform was established. The variations of maximum settlement of the landing platform, geotextile force, maximum stress of the filling soil and redundant stress of different reinforced layers and soft soil materials under helicopter load were analyzed. Results show that in the presence of four layers of reinforcement, the indicators of the landing platform reached the minimum, and reduced exponentially with the increasing of foundation soil’s elastic modulus. The geogrid-reinforced emergency landing platform for helicopters could be applied to soft soil foundation with elastic modulus higher than 1.5MPa.

Key words: soft soil foundation, geosynthetic reinforcement, temporary helicopter landing platform
