Abstract: A new kind of pier structure is introduced, which can meet flood control requirements, possess a higher ship berthing level and can be able to adapt to a larger docking water level drop. In order to study the force characteristics acting on the structure and strength distributions on the column and pile, the structural model test similarity theory is used to derive a similarity index. On this basis, the appropriate materials are selected to simulate the new dock for Yueyang Chenglingji scale model experimental research, and the structural design of a model test and design of loading methods are introduced, the simulation method of soil can provide a reference for similar model test.
