Starting from October 2018, the “Journal of Changjiang River Scientific Research Institute” officially joins the OSID (Open Science Identity) program. By adding an Open Science Identity (OSID) code to the papers, the journal provides a means for readers and authors to communicate and share research findings with their peers in the industry.
OSID, Open Science Identity (Resource Service), is a new media integration technology pioneered by the National Press and Publication Administration Publishing Convergence Development (Wuhan) Key Laboratory. Through OSID, authors can upload brief voice recordings, videos, and written descriptions using a computer or mobile phone to present and disseminate research results in a more three-dimensional manner. This helps overcome the limitations of traditional print journals and enables interaction and communication with other researchers in the field, increasing the readership, downloads, and citations of the papers, as well as expanding the influence of the papers and authors.
The OSID code includes the following content: 1) A brief voice introduction by the author (not exceeding 1 minute), including research direction, objectives, significance, as well as interesting anecdotes about the preparation work and research process, thereby showcasing more research details. 2) Additional explanations for the paper, allowing the author to upload relevant images and videos to provide more visually appealing demonstrations of dynamic experimental processes and computational results that cannot be presented in print. 3) Online interaction and Q&A between the author and readers, establishing an academic communication circle for the paper.
Readers can scan the OSID code on the paper using WeChat to access the author’s introduction to the article, ask questions, or engage in further interactive communication regarding valuable aspects for exploration. The digitalization of scientific journals is an inevitable path for journal development. With the popularity of mobile internet, QR codes serve as a link between print and digital products, providing readers and authors with a convenient and efficient communication channel as well as a more diverse form of content presentation.
The inclusion of the “Journal of Changjiang River Scientific Research Institute” in the OSID program not only brings a new reading and discussion experience to readers but also encourages authors to treat their papers more seriously, thereby promoting the better dissemination of excellent papers. It has a dual promotional effect. We will open an OSID author account for each author for their respective papers and inform them via email. Authors can follow the instructions in the email to proceed. We welcome researchers and authors to actively participate and contribute to expanding academic influence collectively!
