Abstract: A set of indoor test devices for water migration in expansive soil is employed to investigate into the influence of ionic soil stabilizer (ISS) on expansive soil under cyclic freezing and thawing. The test apparatus is composed of freeze-thaw cycle test box, DT85G data collector, and a resistance temperature sensor. The performance of ISS reinforcement on expansive soil after freeze-thaw cycle is analyzed by examining the physical parameters (water content, dry density, and porosity) and the temperature variation of samples at different heights. Results demonstrate that the temperature in expansive soil reinforced by ISS during freeze-thaw cycles changes slowly; in the meantime, water content changes little and porosity is small, indicating a high stability of samples.
