Abstract

The strength formation mechanism of lime-treated expansive soil is analyzed, and then the effects of curing time, initial moisture content, lime rate on the cohesion and the internal friction angle of the treated expansive soil are investigated. The cohesion calculation formula in consideration of water content and lime rate is proposed. It is believed that the influence of curing time of 0-7 days on the cohesion and internal friction angle is larger than that of 7-28 days, and the curing time has less influence on internal friction angle than on cohesion. These conclusions can be referential for researches on the shear strength of lime-treated expansive soil.
