Abstract

Numerical simulation of threedimensional turbulent flow field of X-Shape flaring gate pier is conducted by adopting VOF method and RNGk-ε model in this paper. By employing implicit calculation method, the calculation speed is improved and the waterair two-phase flow field is captured, thus the turbulence characteristics of the flow field are successfully simulated. According to simulation result, the simulation data fits well with the actual measurement, which indicates that the numerical simulation adopted in this paper represents a satisfactory capability of simulating free water surface, and can meet the requirements of engineering practice.
