Abstract: The solution of soil consolidation around piles in saturated soft clay was deducted in this paper via methods of mathematical physics based on Terzaghi’s one-dimensional consolidation theory. The pile wall was assumed as impermeable boundary, and the analytical solution of excess pore water pressure in which the effects of strain softening and pile diameter are considered was taken as the initial condition. In addition, the effect of excess pore water pressure in elastic region on the consolidation of soils around piles was also taken into account. The calculated results agree well with the in-situ pore pressure measurements. The solution in this paper is of practical value for the prediction of excess pore water pressure dissipation in saturated soft soils around the driven piles.
