Abstract: As a new mapping technology used in the investigation of rock mass structure, 3-D laser scanning technology can break through the drawback of traditional single point measuring method and is more helpful to grasp the occurrence of the structural plane on a macro scale. On the basis of the introduction on the principles and the basic work steps of 3-D laser scanner, taking the high slope of the right bank of a hydroelectric power station in southwest China for example, and through introduction of several aspects including the layout of the station , the correction and inspection to coordinate conversion error , the acquisition of the occurrence of the structural plane, the division of joint sets and the generation of cranny gridding, this paper expounds the application of laser scanning technology in the research of high slope rock mass structure of hydroelectric power station and points out its advantages and disadvantages and development prospects.
