Abstract

The human activity has an important affect on the river recently by analyzing fluvial process of the Baimahe River reach crossed by the inverted siphon of South-to-North Water Transfer Project. In order to find the scour depths near the inverted siphon axis and revetment works, the movable bed model was constructed and test results indicated that the buried depth of the inverted siphon is safety. Adopting gabions set in the bottom of the revetment works to protect engineering from erosion is necessary. By the analysis of theory and measured data, the author studied the local scour process near the revetment works, proposed a mode of local scour process, and gave a modeling equation relating to local scour depth and discharge.
