Abstract: Through collecting a vast amount of the measured in-situ stress data in China and selecting the data which have less local impact, the scattered distribution diagrams of depth versus the average ratio of horizontal principal stress to the vertical stress, including? three kinds of rock, i.e. magmatic rock, sedimentary rock and metamorphic rock, are established and the corresponding regression analysis is conducted adopting the same method given by E.Brown & E.T.Hoek. The research results show that the distribution characte ristics of the three kinds of rocks are different, which are closely related to their formation cause of rock. For further studying the difference of distributi on characteristics of the three kinds of rocks, the relation between in-situ stress and Young’s modulus of rocks is established, and the results show that Young’s modulus of rocks has the greatest impact on maximum principal stress, but has less impact on intermediate and minimum ones. The above statistic analysis results can provide useful references for the study of the macro stress field distribution and related influencing factors.
