Abstract

Six sorts of plants, i.e., willow branches, gingkgo leaves, bamboos, grapevines, cotoier leaves and metasequoia leaves, were immersed into sewage, and then, the TN and TP content in the sewage were measured. The test results show as follows: All of the five sorts of plants except gingkgo leaves possess the ability to remove N from sewage. The willow branches have the best effect among them, can reduce the TN from 11.09 mg/L to 0.48 mg/L, and its desewerage rate is 95.67%; the worst effect is metasequoia leaves, it only can reduce the TN from 11.09 mg/L to 1.39 mg/L and the desewerage rate is 87.47%. But all of these six sorts of plants con not remove P from sewage, on the contrary, would release P into sewage and then cause the increase of P content in the sewage.
