The principle objectives of management of sandexcavating in the Yangtze River channel are maintaining stabilizat ion of river regimes, safeguarding the flood control safety, ensuring the naviga tion safety and protecting water ecology and environment. On the basis of its ch aracteristics, an indicator system of health assessment on the management of san dexcavating in the Yangtze River channel is advanced, which includes 18 indicators expressed in ratio such as river regime stabilization, e ffect on dikes, guarantee to navigation water depth, influences on water functio nal regions and hydraulic engineering safety, etc.. Each indictors meaning is analyzed and the quantitative assessment method and criterion for each are put f orward. Finally, quantitative assessment methods for sandex cavating management are discussed briefly. 
