Experimental Study on Mechanical Behavoirs of Interfacebetwe
en Asphalt - concrete and Aggregate

Abstract:  A series of experiments about the mechanical behavoirs of interface between the asphalt - concrete and the aggregate are conducted. It is confirmed that shear strain and the normal stress of this interface are in linear relation, that there are not obviously softening points on the curve of the stress - strain, and that the shear stress and the relative shear displacement present better hyperbola - curve relation. As the normal stress increases, the shear displacement needed to reach the peak strength increases also and the initial slope of the hyperbola - curve is more inclined; when the parameters of the experiments are calculated by the model of Clough - Duncan, it indicates that the experimental curves and the fitting curves of the shear stress and t he shear displacement with the average grade and the higher strength envelope grade are basically coincide, and meanwhile, it indicates that this interface can be analyzed by the above methold.
