Abstract: For effectively protecting normal operation of a gene rator, the development process of a secondary-load resistor in the neutral-point grounding of the generator is presented . The resistor uses high-resistance electrically heated allo y as resistance material, in which the resistance-pieces arr angement adopts multi-layer framed structure with non-inductive coil winding. For preventing moisture and dirt, the insu lation of resistor agains the earth uses 10 kV withstand-vol tage porcelain insulator the insulation of resistor employs new pure*. oxide high-temperature porcelain insulator. The me asured results show that: the conventional operation temperature of the resistor may be raised from 350℃ to 1 000℃, the cross-section area decreased by 43%; the heat*.endurance of the insultor may be reached to 1 200℃; the bending strength is more than 300 MPa; when the generat or is operated with maximum design current in 1 minute, its performance indexes all reach design requirements, and the power factor is superior to 90% of genera l standard .
