With the improving of environment-protection sense and of needs for habitation, there are more and more requirements for construction materials, which tend to be intelligentized and multi-functional, and among them phase change materials may be used as functional elements. Phase change materials possess lots of advantages such as larger energy-storage density, higher efficiency and approximately constant temperature during phase changing. Based on a great deal of literatures, this paper deals with some information of phase change material such as its characteristics, classification and so on. Application of phase change material in building materials is introduced in detail including classes, processing technology and development prospect.
