Abstract

A method of TTS for accelerating creep testing of geosynthetics is introduced. This method can overcome the defects of conventional one which needs long time and can not forecast creep character at the end of design life. In this method only short time tests are needed to be done at different temperatures but at the same loading levels. Each of the elevated temperature curves is moved along the horizontal time axis to longer times until it superposes on the reference temperature curve as smoothly as possible and then the master creep curve is obtained. Long time creep characters of geosynthetics are determined by the master curve. The history, the principle ,the procedure and shift factors of TTS method are discussed. At last, some demerits and suggestions for their improvement are presented.
