Abstract

Due to rainstorms, river-regime change and fluctuations of water lever, many failures of embankments always happen along the Yangtze River. In order to simulate the failure process of the embankment dynamically,a set of software was developed. This system employs the geographic and geologic data, results obtained from mechanical model and finite element method, video technique, computer graphics and multi-media technique comprehensively to implement the simulation of embankment failure process. With this system, it is also possible to reproduce the embankment failure processes in computer
