Abstract

The Yuansbui River's Taoyuan Bridge was located in the bifurcation region of braided reach.An oblique intersection of flow direction in navigation region and bridge axial line occured and caused a lot of maritime affairs after the bridge piers being completed.For exploring the regulation method to solve the flow-pattern of obstructing navigation, the hydraulic model test,induding studying oblique flow characteristics and regulation measures,was performed,and ,at last,a new regulation scheme in which the shoal-head expanded toward upstream and its configuration took an unsymmetrical fish-lips form with unequal altitude was proposed.The test results showed that the effect of this scheme is better than other conventional regulation methods.After the project being completed,the prototype observed data indicated that the effect of the regulation project is obvious.
