Abstract: The paper sums up several basic types of GCL(geosynthetic clay liner) products and their related properties, including hydraulic characteristics, gas impermeability and their shear strengths. Also it illustrates their application in environmental and hydraulic engineering. Then a few noticeable problems are given during practical applications.
