Based on reliability theory,a limit state equation for gate faceplate reliability analysis was founded. The loads and resistances statistical data affecting gate faceplate reliability analysis was calculated and analyzed using the statistical data obtained,and their statistical parameters was gained.Then, employing JC method the gate faceplate reliability in Hydraulic and hydroelectric engineering specification for design of steel gate was calibrated and analyzed.The calculated results indicate that the reliability indexes of gate faceplate meet safety levels of class I structures and are higher than that of gate main beams.Meanwhile the values of target reliability indexes of hydraulic gate faceplate design are proposed .
