Abstract: In this paper,according to over 20 years experience on geomechanic model experiments of Yangtze River Scientific Reasearch Institute(YRSRI) and developmental status of this model at home and abroad,the characteristics and developmental tendency of geomechanic model test techniques are introduced from some aspects such as the criteria of similarity,model material selection,key simulation techniques and applications to different geological problems.It is considered that geomechanic model test techniques should make progresses in depth,namly,simulation and measurement technique,and in wide scope.It still has broad application prospects in discovering new mechanics mechanism,verifying mathematics model and so on.
