Abstract: The security and stability of the stonelined hollow gravity dam of Gaoyan Reservoir is analysed by using the method of structural mechanics and three dimensional finite element method.The practicability of the two kinds of methods is presented by comparing their results.Some useful conclusions about the design of hollow gravity dam are given in the paper.
