Vulnerability Analysis and Contamination Prediction of Xiyao Water Source in Yuci District

Abstract

In order to explore the groundwater vulnerability and the impacts of Shijiazhuang-Taiyuan oil pipeline on Xiyao water source, we evaluated the groundwater vulnerability using DRASTIC method and simulated the impacts of oil spill contamination on the groundwater quality using GMS (groundwater monitoring system). Results suggest that the groundwater vulnerability in Xiyao water source is rated as weak. If oil leakage occurs in the shortest distance to a water supply well, the groundwater quality would be severely affected in half a day, and the oil concentration would be exceeding standard for over 300 days. Some recommendations for pollution prevention and control were offered in consideration of the pollution situation.
