Abstract: Posttensioned reinforced concrete lining is used in the pressurized conveyance tunnel of the water supply project from Songhua River to the central cities of Jilin province. Taking this project as an example, the lining of prestressed reinforced concrete was calculated by conventional analytical method and elastic-plastic finite element method, and the calculation results of these two methods were further compared. The comparison demonstrated that the finite element method proved to be reasonable and feasible. According to the calculation, it is feasible to employ prestressed concrete lining for shallow pressure tunnel which crosses gullies and wavy terraces. And as for complex prestressed reinforced concrete lining tunnels, finite element method can better simulate the excavation, the prestressing, and the stress of surrounding rock and lining structure. It is closer to the actual conditions compared with conventional methods and is critical for project cost control. Moreover, the advantages and application prospect of the prestressed reinforced concrete lining were summarized, and issues awaiting further research were also discussed.
