The authors analyze the calculation problems on wave pressure in the design of hydraulic structures, which exist in the Load Design Specification of Hydraulic Structures, Concrete Gravity Dam Design Specification, Roller Compacted Earth Dam Design Specification and so on. The applicable conditions of three kinds of empirical formulas are explored. Finally, the simplipied calculation formulas obtained respectively through the empirical formulas for average wave length and wave height and concrete calculation examples are given. The examples show the calculation methods are simple and convenient.
