The landslide located in the upstream of the water in take of Sanbanxi Hydropower Project is taken as an example to analyse the stabil ity, the slide velocity, the surge wave caused by the landslide. Based on these studies, the evaluation and the engineering mitigation measures for such slide c atastrophe are proposed.
